"Ills in Brazil"

Films: Flying Virus (2001)

Alias: None

Type: Man-Made

Location: Jungle/Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of average bees.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Just when you thought we learned our lesson with trying to alter stinging insects after the advent of the Africanized honey bee, we try and pull it off again. And this time, they were meant as weapons of war. It's little wonder sh*t hits the fan so quickly.

History: In the jungles of the South American rainforest, the local Indian tribes are being assaulted by greedy petroleum seekers. And worse, the avaricious a-holes have developed a strain of killer bees with a venom that can kill in seconds. But one of the scientists sees great healing potential in their venom, and smuggles a whole cart of them to a plane. But some turbulence later, and the bees are loose in the aircraft, threatening the lives of everyone on there as tensions mount in Brazil below.

Notable Kills: See Final Fate.

Final Fate: A major swarm of the bees is unleashed upon most of the people who perpetrated this mess, killing them all and sending one of them jumping into a river with a large and very hungry caiman. As for the ones on the plane, they are disposed of when the doors are opened in midair, the cold air and the force of it killing them all.

Powers/Abilities: Have a venom more lethal than anything before them.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-A swarm of bees is a swarm of bees, no matter how bad the CGI is. Granted, it can be amusing seeing a bunch of people swat at what's basically nothing, but that doesn't mean you should stand in the way of a swarm of perpetually pissed bees.

Trivia: -For some reason, more than a couple of explosions in this film are lifted directly from "Rambo: First Blood Part 2".

-Bee venom actually does have some healing properties. Sometimes, it can be used to prevent inflammation. Bee sting acupuncture therapy may sound like something Satan made up to ruin our lives, but it's actually a niche way of curing diseases mostly practiced in Korea.
